What Are You Doing To Earn A Living?
Your Job Or Career Is An Important
Business Asset
An Underutilized Business Asset

An opportunity is simply a chance for progress or advancement. It
is important that you clearly understand the differences between an opportunity and traditional means of earning a living.
Actors and actresses like Sandra Bullock can have rewarding careers and
earn fabulous incomes in the motion picture industry. This career or profession might not be possible for you, or the
vast majority.
The question is what are you doing
to earn YOUR INCOME? Whether you call it a career,
job, profession, marketable skill, or trade, whatever you are doing to earn a living is actually your occupation.
By definition, an occupation is
your regular, principal, or immediate business that involves the sale of your time and service to an employer or buyer.
An occupation is what you are engaged in, either continuously or temporarily,
for any purpose, whether for profit, or amusement, learning or philanthropy, etc. If you haven't done so already,
you need to clearly define what you are doing to earn a living.
If you can not clearly define what
you are doing now to earn an income, you can not make meaningful improvements. Plus, if you do not know what you are
doing or why you are doing it, you can not take the necessary steps to change. Since very few people in the workforce
have aken the time to define their livelihood, we decided it would be helpful to give you some insight.
Art:
Art in the industrial sense is a system of rules and methods for accomplishing a practical result. For example, the
art of printing.
Career:
A career is an occupation that you intend on doing for the rest of your life, or for a considerable period
of time. Successful careers have the same basic requirements as professions. They, almost always, involve
acquiring more education, skills or special knowledge. Usually training, self growth and self development
are needed to have a successful career. There may or may not be upward mobility, but having a career nearly always
require that you sell your time and service to an organized body such as the government, military, sports, entertainment,
healthcare, private industry, religion, etc.
Profession:
A profession is an occupation that involves getting a formal education or its equivalent; and mental, rather than manual
labor. This is especially true of the 3 learned professions, medicine, law and theology. Hence, a profession
can be considered as any calling or occupation, other than commercial or manual labor, that requires attaining a
special skill, knowledge, or discipline that can be used for any purpose. However, 99% of the time, once an individual
has acquired his/her formal education, special skills or knowledge, or achieved the necessary disciplinary
level, he/she immediately sells his/her time to the highest bidder/employer.
Trade:
A trade is an occupation involving manual training and skilled labor. Often trade and craft are use interchangeably.
A craft is an occupation requiring technical skill or manual dexterity. These skills are not the same
as having a marketable skill. Tradesmen/craftsmen and women can earn excellent incomes, depending on the demand
for their time and service.
Vocation:
A vocation can be a stated or regular occupation, a calling, or having fitness or suitability for a certain career, trade,
skill or profession. The ministry is one of the few, if not the only, occupation where a calling can
be genuine. Very few people, other than ministers, rarely ever express that they were "called" for their
particular occupation.
Avocation:
An avocation is a secondary interest including hobbies and other activities, whether for pleasure or profit, that interrupts
one's vocation or business, or that may parallel and eventually become a vocation. Some of the wealthiest people in
the world turned their avocation into moneymaking enterprises.
Work: Work
can be defined as any application of energy to secure a desired result. From this definition, it is obvious that very
few people in today's economy actually do any real work. A single branch of productive work can be called an industry,
i.e., the entertainment industry, the insurance industry, etc.
Employment:
Employment can be defined as work done in the service of another. If you are self-employed whatever work
that is actually performed is for your personal benefit. Regular employment is any work done in the
service of another that is not directly tied to a career, profession, marketable skill, or trade. Generally, your time and service are sold to a single buyer/employer.
Labor: Whenever
labor is used in connection with work, it is generally used to describe unskilled work. The vast majority of the hard
core unemployed are unskilled laborers. All they have to sell is their time and physical labor. This group is far
more likely to take advantage of an opportunity than any other group of people. The hard core unemployed
is fertile sponsoring and recruiting ground.
Job:
A job is a piece of business viewed and payed for as a single undertaking. Such as, installing an air conditioning unit.
Generally speaking, any regular employment is often mistakenly called a job.
Opportunity:
In addition to being a chance to progress or advance, an opportunity is a conjunction of circumstances which makes certain
actions possible with an increased probability of success, advantage or gratification.
If you noticed, art (in the industrial sense), avocation and job are not considered as occupations.
Just think, all this time you thought you had a job, and a job and an occupation were the same. Why is this also important? Until you realize where you are at, you can not get to where you
are going. If you don't know where you are at, or where you are going, YOU ARE LOST.
The Importance Of Being Employed

More than likely, you already have a career, profession, marketable skill,
trade, or full time or part time employment be it in government or the private sector of the economy in your country. It
is very possible and likely, you can become extremely wealthy with a career, marketable skill, profession, or trade. It is
extremely unlikely that you can, or will acquire great wealth or income with regular employment that is not tied to a career,
trade, marketable skill or profession.
Whether you are employed full time or part time, have a trade, marketable
skill, profession or career, be thankful and grateful for what you already have. IMG.Ws does not and will not advocate leaving
your occupation or your employer for an opportunity, at least not right now.
Your current occupation or employment
is important because you need it to finance what you are going to do, as well as, what you hope to accomplish.
Normally, you can't get rich by regular employment, otherwise, millions
of people would already be rich and income opportunities would not be needed. Being able to sell your time and service
or having an occupation will certainly contribute to your financial success.
Since you are already employed, unless
you are unemployed, indigent, retired, or on a government program, why not do something different? Since the vast majority of people in the world are employees, this is our area of major concern. Afterall, the reason
why you are working is to earn money, Right? RIGHT!,
Your objective should be to earn as much money as possible, Right? RIGHT!
Having 2 or 3 more employers will allow you to accomplish this, Right?
WRONG!!!
The disadvantage of being employed is someone else determines how much your time
is worth. Therefore, having 2 or 3 employers, will not solve this problem. What you need is an opportunity, not
another employer. Stay with the employer or buyer you already have, or find another buyer, then concentrate
on finding an income opportunity that is right for you.
If you decided on a Home Business Enterprise or Home Business Shop Operation, how you perform at work will have an immediate impact on your ability to grow your business. If you are a chronic complainer,
poor worker, habitually late, have low standards or productivity, argumentative, rarely get along with co-workers, or never
seem to fit in, your chances of recruiting or sponsoring, or even selling your product or service to fellow employees are
slim and none. You would definitely need to assemble an Internet Based Business or Business Group in order to have any hope of increasing your income.
This is also true if you are an alcoholic, drug addict, always have personal problems, family
problems, lover problems, irresponsible, irrational, obnoxious, overly personal in your relationship with co-workers, always
gossiping, berating or belittling, or always making excuses, your chances are also extremely poor at building an organization.
You will also need to change, before you get involved in an opportunity. Your chances of attracting others
is not very good. You would also need to assemble an Internet Based Business Group in order to have any hope of
increasing your income.
If you are currently employed, it is in your best interest to do the best work possible.
Always be on time. Don't complain about your employer, afterall, he/she could have hired someone else. Set high
performance standards and adhere to those standards. Make an effort to get along with fellow employees. Respect
everyone around you and treat people with dignity.
Always be grateful and thankful for what you have. If any of the negative characteristics
mentioned in the previous paragraphs describes you, change your attitudes and habits, and do it now. Regardless
of where you are headed, you must always start from where you are. As far as possible, make sure this
is a good position. You will do much better with a good start, than a poor one.
A Closer Look At Employment

It would be helpful to have a clear understanding of what a business
is before we discuss employment. A business is a pursuit or occupation. It can be a trade, profession, or
calling. It can also be a commercial enterprise or establishment. A business can be what one follows regularly
for profit. Pursuit can be defined as an occupation one follows with ardor, keen interest, or singlemindedness.
The problem with most people is they don't realize they don't have
jobs. What they actually have is employment. Return to the actual definition of a job. A job is a piece
of business viewed and payed for as a single undertaking. The key word here is business. A job is business and your business can be a specific job.
If more people actually had jobs,
the number of dissatisfied workers would drop dramatically. The vast majority of people are dissatisfied with income
form their employment, not their job.
It is impossible to be dissatisfied with
something you do not possess, or do not know.
Employment:
Employ means to hire or use. Employment is work done for a set fee that is usually paid as a salary or an
hourly wage. Your employment is normally a position or function for which you are hired or used. The position is
defined by the service/s you are performing, (i.e., cashier, clerk, assembler, secretary, receptionist, technician, welder,
nurse, waiter, agent, etc.)
The reason why employment is often confused with a job is because no one took the time to tell
you the difference. The reason why employment is often confused with an opportunity is because you do progress
from where you were. You went from being unemployed and broke to being employed and having regular income.
This, technically speaking, is progress or advancement. You went from having nothing to getting something.
You are in what Dr. Dan LeDimke calls the "working class".
According to Dr. LeDimke, the most refined segment of the "working class" are those who have
the most education. The most educated workers are almost always government employees. This entire group lives
off your taxes and the vast majority of their organizations are tax exempt. This group includes teachers, professors,
scientist, social workers, law enforcement men and women, public defenders, all your federal agencies, judges, etc.
Top income in this group can go well beyond $100,000.00 annually.
Unfortunately, the bigger government grows, the more costly it becomes. This makes it far
more difficult for the rest of the "working class" to earn a living from regular employment. Somebody has to pay their
ever growing salaries, and that, unfortunately, is you. Unless this refined segment of the "working class" is involved
in productive activity, everything they have, your taxes paid for it, even though they made the actual purchase. Even
with all these advantages, the vast majority of government employees in this refined segment, still need to find ways
to supplement their income, because of lifestyle requirements.
Selling Your Time And Services

What most employees fail to realize is they are already in business, and
their business is selling their time and service to the highest bidder/buyer/employer. The primary objective of every employee is to sell his/her time for the highest fees or payment possible. In
order to accomplish this objective, you must achieve the highest possible position in the "working
class".
Unfortunately, a higher or good paying position requires a considerable
investment of time and money. The reason: You must acquire the necessary skill or education to obtain
one, or spend years selling your time and service to a single buyer, or different buyers within the same industry.
If you need more education or skill, your time investment may range
from 1 year or more in a technical or vocational school , to 4 years or more in a college or university.
Your monetary investment to get a degree could range from a few thousand
to several thousand dollars. However, after you have your degree or acquire your skill, you are qualified to sell
your time to a buyer/employer for more money. This sales process
is mistakenly called "looking for a job" or "job hunting". In actuality you are looking for a buyer who is
willing to pay more for your time and newly acquired service/s capability.
The vast majority of graduates spend their pre-employment time
looking for buyers that have a company, firm, agency, or involved in government. Often they look in the want
ads, utilize employment services, or go online. When buyers/employers really need
a specific talent or skill, they will take out an ad in a local newspaper, hire "head hunters", use employment agencies, or
send recruiters to colleges, universities or technical schools.
Higher paying buyers that need more educated or skilled personnel, may
require that you send them an "information pack". This "information pack" is commonly called a resume.
In the resume, you give the buyer an overview of personal qualities, qualifications, some basic information about youself,
and a brief "sales pitch".
This "sales pitch" normally limits itself to the benefits the buyer will
enjoy, if your services are used instead of your competitors. If the buyer is pleased with what he/she reads, the sales
process is extended to include one or more personal interviews. If the buyer likes you, and what you have to offer,
terms for the actual purchase of your time and services are discussed. If you accept his/her fee or hourly rate, or
salary, you are considered hired.
Remember: You are already in business for yourself. The only difference
is you are not self-employed. Your occupation, career, vocation, skill, trade or current employment is your business.
If you are employed, your business is selling your time for the hourly rate or salary you are receiving, and providing a useful
service to your employer.
You are not helping your employer get rich. This is a mistaken precept
that most employees in commercial enterprises carry around with them. You are helping yourself stay out of the unemployment
line, and contributing to the economic vitality of your community while earning a living for yourself and/or your family.
As long as you continue selling your time to your employer, or the employer
continues buying it and utilizing your services, your business continues to be a profitable enterprise. Because your
current business operates on a set fee or salary, your income is limited by what your buyer is willing to pay. In your current business, you may
have to travel to an established location to sell your time and provide your services.
Therefore, your employer controls 35 hours or more of your time per week,
for full time access, and 34 hours or less per week for part-time access. In this popular arrangement of buyer
and seller, the buyer is in the power and controlling position. It
is this control of time and payment that creates the friction between groups of service providers, or employees and a
single buyer, the employer.
In many cases in order to negotiate higher payments, or more benefits
in lieu of higher salaries or wages, groups of service providers organize themselves into unions, especially if
there are thousands of providers in a single industry, such as the automobile industry, firefighters, police officers,
communications, etc. The union becomes the official spokesperson for a collective body of sellers and providers.
It is very possible you are already a member of a union.
Generally to be a member of a union requires an annual or monthly payment
in the form of dues. Normally, with or without unions, any payment increase for your time and service is usually
paid as a percentage of an existing salary or wage, such as a 3% increase or 6 % etc., Sometimes a flat fee is paid,
even though this is rare in most industries.
Because of Federal law, all buyers/employers must pay a minimum hourly
wage. Selling your time and service is not very difficult when there are plenty of buyers in the marketplace. This is the primary reason why selling time and service is the number one business activity in
the world and the most popular method of earning an income.
The Disadvantages Of Selling Your Time And Service

The primary disadvantage of being an employee or selling your time and service
to a single or sometimes 2 employers is you are always in danger of being unemployed.
If you work in a plant or factory, machinery can easily replace you, or
labor from overseas. Therefore, there is little or no security even when unions are involved in the buying
and selling process.
Second:
You have no control over the payment you receive for your time and service. As the cost of living goes
up, you have less and less spendable or discretionary income.
This makes saving and/or investing money, for the vast majority, extremely
difficult. It even makes it difficult for the vast majority to participate in an income opportunity, regardless of how low
the actual startup cost really is.
Third:
The cost of government is also increasing as a direct result of political pressure to secure votes. A politician's quest for more government programs is very appealing to dysfunctional thinkers.
Remember: Dysfunctional thinkers outnumber empirical thinkers by a huge margin.
The increased cost of government, and its programs or services, has a direct impact on your purse or wallet. Because
you don't control the payment you receive for your service, this further erodes your spendable and discretionary income.
Fourth:
Never forget. A good paying position in the "working class" requires years of education or acquiring the necessary skills.
There is absolutely no guarantee that buyers will be in the marketplace seeking your time and service after you graduate.
If you must borrow money to acquire your degree or skill, you end up in debt. And if your debt is not repaid in a timely
manner, it impacts your credit rating, which invariably increases your cost of living.
Fifth:
Not only do you and the buyer collectively determine your worth, the buyer controls 1/3, and sometimes more, of
your time allocation for daily living.
Sixth:
Losing your ability to sell your time and service, or if a buyer no longer needs your service, can create financial hardships,
emotional and psychological stress, physical ailments, sickness, ruin relationships, and even destroy families.
Seventh:
Long term employment does improve your ability to have financial security. In fact, the opposite is true. According
to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the results of "The Hundred Man Study" have not changed since it began
over 30 years ago. 95% of regularly employed Americans still endup dead or dead broke after 40 years of work.
Eighth: Practically
every economic study done in the last 20 years shows the same dismal results. The vast majority of the regularly
employed still have little or no savings or discretionary income, and are virtually broke after paying their bills.
Millions must live from paycheck to paycheck. An extremely large number in this group are only 1or 2 paychecks
away from bankruptcy.
Ninth: The
vast majority of the regularly employed, struggle most of their lives just to pay their bills with little or no enjoyment
of life. Sadly, only 1 out of 100 will become rich, monetarily and materialistically speaking, regardless
of the income level.
Finally:
Like you, every buyer is also in business. As an owner or executive, he/she has a duty and an obligation to maintain
the viability of the company or firm. Just like you have competitiors, the buyer also has competitors. He/she
has a responsibility, duty, and obligation to control operational cost and overhead expenses in order to remain competitive,
not only in the domestic marketplace, but also in the international business arena.
As a direct result of these realities, the buyer is limited by what he/she
can pay employees and still remain competitive. Because of the huge number of dysfunctional thinkers, buyers are almost
always under government or political pressure to pay more money for time, or provide more benefits. These cost can literally
force the buyer into a non-competitive position, out of business, or to leave the country altogether.
If this were to happen, it would have a negative impact
on the payment you can receive for your time and service. Instead of seeking buyers to get more money, you
end up settling for less just to remain in a position to sell your time and service.
If a huge number of buyers go out of business or move to a more supportive
economic environment, this could have a negative impact on the economy as a whole. Thus, further eroding
your ability to earn more money by selling more time, or providing more service for the same amount of time. This
forces you to lower expectations and settle for even less.
However, in our final analysis concerning this matter, being
employed, or maintaining your current business of selling your time and service is far more beneficial than being unemployed.
The Advantages Of Selling Your Time And Service

We have already covered the
most important reason why your employment, career, profession, marketable skill, or trade is important. It allows you
to finance your secondary income source, and provides financial stability while you work toward your income goal.
Regular employment or selling your time and service to a buyer/employer has
many advantages most income opportunities; especially in the early stages of growth and development, do not. Benefits
such as healthcare, paid leave, sick leave, compensation time, annual leave, paid vacations, 401Ks, leadership and decision-making hierarchies,
structured environment, and even a union are important assets for many people.
Plus, regular employment can become a real opportunity if it gives
you an option of acquiring an ownership interest in the company or firm. This is usually accomplished by allowing you to buy company stock.
Stock purchases can be by normal procurement or through a payroll plan.
Your employer may even allow you to share in company earnings through
a profit sharing plan. Some employers, not only buy your time and
service, they even pay you a percentage of company profits in the form of commissions. Then there are incentive
bonuses for outstanding service; as well as, year-end bonuses. If you are really fortunate, you may encounter a
buyer, that will allow you to become a buyer yourself, by becoming a partner in the firm or company.
Regular employment provides a steady source of income while you learn new
skills, get more education, or participate in an income opportunity. The vast majority of large employers
have dental plans and group insurance plans that will cover you at much lower rates than an individual
plan. This is particularly important as you get older, or your health begins to decline.
For many, regular employment, give structure to their lives.
They know where they will be for 8 hours every day. Therefore, it becomes much easier to plan activities and participate in
income opportunities. Since selling time and service in our present economy is not labor intensive, you will have
enough energy at days end to participate in community activities, pursue hobbies, and participate in the political process.
In addition, regular employment has these additional itemized advantages:
1. Some
employers offer pension and retirement plans that supplement 401Ks. These employer sponsored programs make it easier
for you to plan your retirement. In many cases all you really need is an additional income source to secure your financial
future.
2.
Regular employment gives you the opportunity to meet new people you can introduce to your income opportunity; especially if
you have earned a good reputation, have a good name, and others respect you and your opinion.
4.
Practically all employers, buy time and service from individuals that become supervisors, managers, floor bosses or have leadership
positions within the company. Since most people are lazy, they can not manage themselves in a work environment and need
constant supervision.
5.
Regular employment, especially in government agencies and large corporations, can give you power, respect, prestige, and make
you a center of influence for hundreds of others. Your status and influence could not have happened without regular
employment in the agency or firm.
6.
Some regular employment gives people a sense of purpose for their lives. Their livelihood is a rewarding and challenging
experience. These people make excellent recruits and they are the easiest to sponsor because they view building a secondary
income as another rewarding challenge.
7. It
is even possible for regular employment to become a fulfilling career, or a springboard to having another business
in addition to selling your time and service.
Regular employment can allow you to develop leadership skills, communication
skills, and aid your personal growth and development. These improved attributes become assets that will allow you to
grow an income opportunity quickly and efficiently.
Despite all these advantages, the vast majority of employees, end up losing
in the money game. Your problem is not with your current business of selling your time and service. Your problem
is having enough money to live comfortably well into your latter years.
The lower your hourly rate of pay, the more you need an income opportunity.
A part time moneymaking activity is the absolute best option to increase your income. Every other option keeps
you working by yourself, and you already know that is a losing proposition.

As stated earlier in this information bin, an opportunity is a chance
to progress or advance; especially when a conjunction of circumstances makes certain actions possible with an increased
probability of success, advantage or gratification. Like all other forms of personal income, opportunities have set
fees and rates. The difference is: Fees and rates are usually based on a per unit basis.
This means if you earned $25.00 everytime someone bought your product or
service, quite naturally the more people that bought your product or service the more money you earn. If you spent
only one hour a day doing this, you would be earning $25.00 an hour.
The overwhelming number of opportunities
allow you to earn income from the efforts of others on your team. Let's assume you have 10 members on your team
and they are also earning $25.00 an hour. However, you sponsored
them and trained them.
Therefore, you earn $10.00 every time they make a sale. 10 X $10.00
= $100.00. Your income is now $125.00 an hour. Assuming a
sale occurred every hour for 8 hours, your earnings would be $1,000.00 a day. The bigger your team becomes, the more
money you earn.
As stated earlier in this information bin, in order for a member of the
"working class" to qualify to sell his/her time for a higher price, he/she must get more education or acquire more skill.
This requires a considerable investment of time and money to attend a technical school or university. Plus, there is
absolutely no guarantee employers will be available when he/she graduates. Only the institution's staff and instructors are assured
of their paychecks.
As for the graduate, there is no guarantee he/she will ever earn
a dime with his/her degree or skill. Unlike the thousands necessary to get
a degree, you can take advantage of an income opportunity for $500.00 or less, and earn all your money
back and more in less than 60 days.
Unlike regular employment, there is no limit placed on your income or the
size of your team. You can earn as much money as you think you need. Plus, you are in control of your after-work
time. You decide how long you work each afternoon, or how long you work on your days off. You are your own manager,
supervisor, and boss. Unlike regular employment, which keep score by how many
hours you work, with an opportunity, you keep score by how much money you earn.
Formal education has nothing to do with your success in an opportunity.
Formal education gives you an advantage when it comes to selling your time and service to certain buyers/employers.
As soon as you take advantage of an oppportunity, you will discover that the biggest earners have the least formal education.
With an income opportunity, your success is totally dependent on your
personal knowledge, skill and effort, not your education.
Generally, individuals that have managment positions in an opportunity oriented
company, got their position by performance, not because of completing course requirements at a college or university.
In fact, the more formal education you have, the more difficult it becomes to earn any real money.
Unlike traditional employment, where employers determine
what your time is worth, you determine how much your time is worth. Unlike regular employment, which requires
you to invest years of your life to arrive at a higher income level, or get periodic raises after so many months or years
of employment, there are no periodic wage or salary increases with an opportunity. Your earnings are totally
dependent on your personal effort and personal performance. Therefore, if you want to double your earnings, you simply
build a bigger organization.
Unlike regular employment, opportunities give you more personal flexibility
and mobility. If you abruptly stop selling your time and service to your current employer, your chances of finding
another willing buyer, at the same or greater payment level, might be extremely remote; especially, if you live in a
small town or rural community. Hence, you are limited as to where you can go to sell your time and service.
With an opportunity, you can literally go anywhere in the free world. Some opportunities
in our Showcases are extremely portable.
If you died today or tomorrow, your employer will simply buy time and service
from another selller. Your business relationship will not be passed on to your heirs or another family member.
The vast majority of opportunities in our Showcases can be passed on from one generation to the next. If you choose an MLM (multi-level marketing) opportunity, once your team extends 3 levels deep, your organization
begins to grow with little or no direct supervision from you. Once the checks start coming in, they will keep coming
unless the company goes under, America goes under, or the planet is destroyed.
Some opportunity oriented companies also give you a chance to:
- Acquire an ownership interest in the company, by purchasing company stock.
- Share company earnings in the form pools, bonuses, or profit shaaring.
- Increase earnings by giving you a percentage of gross volume.
- Receive incentive bonuses, weekly, monthly or year-end bonuses based on personal
performance or the performance of your team.
- Become an independent contractor, affiliate, or partner with the company.
If you noticed, these are the same advantages you enjoy when a career,
profession, marketable skill, trade or regular employment is an opportunity. Now, you know what to look for
when you are selling your time and service/s to a buyer or employer.
